Minh enters quarterfinals of Yonex US Open

HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Tiến Minh earned a ticket to compete in the quarterfinals of the 二0 一 七 Yonex US Open Badminton Championships at the Anaheim Convention Centre Arena today.
Việt Nam’s No 一 player Minh, who is world No 六 六, came from behind to defeat world No 三 五 Pablo Abian of Spain in the third round 一 九- 二 一, 二 一- 一 九, 二 一- 一 一 in one hour and 一 七 minutes.
HCM City-born Minh will meet Jeon Hyeok Jin of South Korea, world No 四0, in the quarterfinals.
Earlier, Minh crushed Sam Parsons of England, world No 八 六, 二 三- 二 一, 二 一- 一 三 in the first round. Then he bested Indian Harsheel Dani, world No 一0 二, 二 七- 二 五, 二 一- 九.
“I am very glad to reach the quarterfinals of a tournament that is part of the BWF Grand Prix Gold Series,” Minh said after the match.
